When I first went looking for a dual cab Ute to replace my existing work vehicle (97 Commodore wagon) I looked at all the mainstream 4 x 4 vehicles such as the Hilux, Navara, Triton, Colorado and Imax (all diesels). I didn't look at Great walls as they only came in petrol.
I found these to be out my price range by between $12,000 to $30,000 and in most cases very basic equipment levels.
I had noticed an ad for the Actyon Tradie on TV - and seen the odd one around. I thought that they would be cheap and nasty, but I stopped a fellow driving one, one day and asked his opinion, he gave a glowing report and suggested that I take a test drive. After many phone conversations/emails to Eastcoast Ssangyong (I drove Toots Hasler mad) I arranged a test drive.
Best thing I've done for a while. The Tradie had heaps of GO! It was a solid vehicle, no rattles, well equipped, and looked surprisingly good, solid feeling doors that needed to be firmly shut against the seals, power windows etc and remarkably quiet for a "cheap" vehicle. Hey I bought one!
My new Actyon duel Cab Tradie was delivered mid February 2010. It continues to impress. Fuel economy about 8 to 9 liters per 100klm, tows my dual axle trailer with ease and often surprises the odd Hilux at the lights.
I don't believe it possible that Hilux is a $30,000 better vehicle than my Tradie...
I wanted value for money and I believe that's what I got with my Tradie. I couldn't be happier. |
